KG Consulting Internship

Launched in 2020, our immersive development internship program provides participants with a wholistic understanding of the fundraising space, providing opportunities to engage in the multi-faceted areas of the fundraising world. Participants will build a network by meeting fundraising professionals in different areas of the field.

What You’ll Do in a Typical Week

  •    •  Learn the fundamentals of development in formal training sessions. Most of these sessions will be led by key partners from other fundraising firms  
  •    •  Attend client meetings and calls and KG Consulting internal meetings and calls
  •    •  Train with senior KGC staff on client engagement. Research high net worth individuals, companies and foundations and update prospective donor profiles in firm database
  •    •  Assist in drafting meeting agendas, notes, budgets, and briefing documents
  •    •  Learn and practice skills essential to most careers, including project management, time management, effective communications, managing up, scheduling and more

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Desired

  •    •  An interest in working in the progressive nonprofit or political sector
  •    •  Proactive attitude and a thirst for learning
  •    •  Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently but collaboratively 
  •    •  Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  •    •  Excellent customer-service skills
  •    •  Detail-oriented and dependable

Applicant availability

While there is no geographic requirement, preference will be given to applicants in the Washington DC metro area. 


Interns will be compensated at $15/hour. Hours range from 15 to 20 hours a week. The actual schedule and daily hours will be contingent upon the applicant’s schedule. Interns will be able to explore other paid opportunities with KGC clients after the internship is completed.
